Nespresso presents the VertuoPlus by De’Longhi, with an all-new design and colors. The innovative brewing system gives you fresh coffee with cream as well as authentic espresso.

You’ll get a complimentary welcome set with a range of Nespresso Vertuo capsules with unique aroma profiles. The moveable water tank and motorized brew head are new features making VertuoPlus unique from previous models.

This coffee machine also comes in a deluxe premium version with an extra-large water tank, capsule container, and chromed details.

While reading reviews about different brewers, something caught my attention about this one: Baristas picked VertuoPlus as their favorite machine because it’s fast, easy to use, and of course, tasty. Here are a few other features:

Pros

  • Automatic capsule ejection.
  • Five different cup sizes.
  • Barista grade coffee taste.
  • Adjustable water tank.
  • Easy to use.
  • Fast heat-up time.

Cons

  • Nespresso capsules only.
  • Occasional leaking.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Coffee Maker

If you don’t want to wait in lines or spend money on coffee shops every day, VertuoPlus might be the solution. It delivers fast coffee with minimum effort, and it’s pretty simple to work with. It’s ideal for coffee fans who aren’t experts in making coffee or simply don’t want to spend much time on it.

The machine can satisfy different tastes. If you like different coffee types or have a family with varying tastes in coffee, this machine is your option. But suppose you select only one coffee type and always serve the same one. In that case, you probably want something simpler and more affordable, like the Essenza Mini Intense Grey.

You can only use Nespresso capsules if you purchase VertuoPlus. Various flavors are available among Nespresso pods, but Keurig K-Compact is a better option if you need a machine compatible with different pod brands.

Before buying a brewing machine, consider the water tank capacity. It’s important to know how many people you can serve in a day.

Here’s a list of other factors to consider when buying a coffee maker:

  • Does reservoir capacity matter to you?
  • Is spending money on coffee pods okay for you?
  • Are you okay with only using Nespresso Vertuo pods?
  • Do you prefer simple applications over advanced settings?
  • Is having different coffee forms an advantage?
  • Is coffee taste a priority?

Why You Should Consider Nespresso VertuoPlus

Rotating Water Tank

VertuoPlus has an adjustable water tank placement, which is excellent because it optimizes your kitchen counter space. No need to worry if you have a small place because this machine fits everywhere.

You can move the water tank arm in three different positions and change the machine size from 16.7 inches to 14.1 inches. You’re free to rotate it to the back, the left, and the machine’s right-hand side.

The tank holds 40 oz water, which means you’ll have about four coffee servings without having to refill. The Deluxe premium version offers an even larger tank with a 60oz capacity. (The exact number of cups depends on the cup sizes, 5oz, 8oz, or 14oz.)

You have easy access to the water tank, and you can grip it in one hand, lift it off, and refill it easily.

Precision Brewing

Nespresso has developed an extraction technology to use in their brewing system. Vertuo automatically adapts the brewing parameters based on the barcode on the capsule’s rim.

All you need is to insert a pod, and the machine delivers coffee in your cup.

I’m impressed with the one-touch brewing system because there’s no need to change each coffee type’s settings. You can have different forms of coffee only with a push of a button. The machine adopts the coffee size, temperature, pressure, and brewing time automatically.

The automatic machine opening system is for easy insertion and ejection of capsules.

Taste

Vertuo’s brewing system provides a combination of a smooth taste and rich crema.

Many people love the taste at customer reviews – even those who complained about leaking admitted that the taste is excellent.

The coffee doesn’t taste watery at all. This is what people mention about the difference between VertuoPlus and their former machines.

Taste is subjective, and that’s why I love the variety this machine offers to satisfy everyone’s needs. Maybe this is the reason people find it superior to anything they have tested before.

A Wide Range of Signature Coffees and Espressos

It brews a wide range of coffees: 5 oz, 8oz, 14 oz, and espressos: single and double. So you can have your drink from dark and intense to mild and smooth.

The machine uses two different capsule sizes: Large capsule coffee and a small one for espresso.

One drawback to Nespresso Vertuo machines is that they’re only compatible with Nespresso Vertuo capsules. Not having knockoffs or reusable pods might seem a little expensive. Still, the multiple sizes available in this model are worth it.

Energy-Saving

Typically, you can turn off the machine by closing the head and then pushing the lever down for 3 seconds. But in case you forgot to do so, the VertuoPlus will turn off automatically after 9 minutes of non-use. Besides considering your safety, this option can save energy and help the environment as well.

Cleaning

The machine has a predefined cleaning procedure that you can launch any time you wish.

The cleaning cycle starts when you push the button three times in two seconds. It’ll take less than 2 minutes before a flow comes out. This cleaning procedure includes three cycles of pumping water in, internal cleaning, and water flowing from the outlet to complete. It’ll run automatically for 5 minutes.

It doesn’t seem complicated, but I’ve seen some complaints about it in the reviews.

Durability

Like many other coffee machines, VertuoPlus is made of plastic. However, the black deluxe premium has actual chrome and heavier pieces, making it a bit nicer and better quality.

Besides, it has a one-year warranty against defects, which ensures you for a decent amount of time.

Design

Nespresso VertuoPlus is available in various colors and finishes, which is nice because you can choose one that goes with your stuff.

This brewer is 12.8 inches high and 5.6 to 9.1 inches wide – based on the tank position – making it suitable for almost any counter. The length also depends on the tank position you prefer, ranging from 14.1 to 16.7 inches.

Fast Heat-Up

There’s no need to wait long for your coffee because this model has a fast heat-up time of 20 to 25 seconds. This period is shorter compared to making coffee on stovetop coffees or with coffee pots. You can have your coffee right after getting up without any water boiling or preparation.

Fully Recyclable Capsules

The aluminum capsules are recyclable, which means you can enjoy your coffee and be environmentally friendly. Nespresso’s free recycling program is also available in many ways for your convenience. Click here to see how you can recycle the capsules.

Alternatives

If you still aren’t sure about buying a VertuoPlus, check some of the best alternatives.

Nespresso Vertuo Next

Would you prefer even more options? This is the only Nespresso Vertuo machine that brews six sizes: Coffee (5oz, 8oz, and 14oz), Espresso (single and double). Plus, the new coffee size (18oz) exclusive to Vertuo Next.

If you need something lighter and slimmer than VertuoPlus, the Vertuo Next is the most compact, sustainable and smart Vertuo single-serve coffee maker yet.

Keurig K-Classic

The classic Keurig K-Cup single-serve is a more affordable best-seller model with a larger water reservoir(48oz).

It only brews three sizes: (6oz, 8oz, and 10oz), which is fewer than what you get with the VertuoPlus. But you can have hot cocoa and tea as well as coffee.

In case you want to use different pod brands, such as Green Mountain Coffee, Starbucks, and Lipton, Keurig K-Classic doesn’t limit you.

Things to Know About VertuoPlus

What Is the Difference Between Nespresso Vertuo and VertuoPlus?

VertuoPlus has a water reservoir that can change position; you can rotate it to the right. left, or behind the machine’s body. The rotatable water tank (40oz) makes VertuoPlus unique because you can position it in a way that fits your counter better. The motorized open/close feature is also new for more convenience.

What Pods Are Compatible With VertuoPlus?

VertuoPlus is only compatible with Vertuo pods. Original Pods won’t fit in Nespresso machines that take Vertuoe pods. So, you can’t use any other pods in this machine. The Vertuo pods give you various options, from intense woody espressos to sweet and fruity longer mugs.

Do I need to Buy a Milk Frother too?

VertuoPlus doesn’t come with a frother because the brewing system itself serves you smooth creme on your coffee with a perfect taste.

However, many people recommend getting a frother as a game-changer. The functionality is simple; you just pour the milk and press the button. If you want to enjoy it more, it’s a good idea to get one.

Final Words on VertuoPlus Review

It’s always a joy to have a cup of decent coffee, but following different recipes just to make a cup of coffee takes a lot of time and effort. VertuoPlus will give you the joy of making a barista grade brewed coffee at the touch of a button.

With a one-touch brewing system, you don’t need to deal with complicated programming. The fast heat-up system doesn’t take long to prepare your coffee. It serves you different coffee sizes and espressos.
