Nespresso VertuoLine vs OriginalLine – Quick Comparison Summary:

  • The Original Nespresso system is easy to use and ideal for espresso lovers.
  • Most Original machines come either with a milk frother or can be purchased as a bundle with the Aerocinno frothing accessory and are great for cappuccino and latte lovers. VertuoLine can deliver on this as well.
  • Nespresso Original can use third party coffee capsules and thus, offers much larger variety
  • The VertuoLine can make large cups of coffee and has much better options that distinguish it from OriginalLine machines
  • Vertuo has a new and improved capsule system – lasers and Centrifusion brew a better cup
  • VertuoLine machines use capsules with bar codes, possibly a little less variety

Nespresso Vertuoline review

Is the Nespresso VertuoLine worth buying?

While it’s not the fanciest espresso machine available, if all you need is a decent cup of coffee in the morning then it’s surely a good option for you.

It’s single-serve technology will ensure you never waste any coffee and when you want it, you’ll get if fast.

Plus you get to choose between a coffee AND an espresso, which is relatively new in the coffee world (and a good plus in our opinion).

Nespresso Vertuoline pods

The Vertuoline capsules are different than the Original line in terms of shape and capacity. The barcode on each pod contains data for its unique water flow, volume, temperature, etc. The pods come in three distinct espresso sizes: 1.35 oz, 2.7oz double espresso and a 5oz Gran Lungo. You also get a 7.77 oz or a 14 oz Alto XL coffee.

The Vertuoline offers the following coffee categories: Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, Coffee and Alto XL.

Nespresso Original review

Nespresso Original machines are still a solid option in our opinion. First, you get to choose between 5 different lines of machines (see below). Most of them offer milk frothing capability (which isn’t true for Vertuoline). But, the type of coffee you can create is less varied and the crema isn’t a good.

Nespresso original pods

The Original line offers 6 categories: Intenso, Espresso, Lungo, Master Origin, Crafted for Milk and Decaffeinato. The Original line Nespresso machines can brew 0.85 oz ristretto, 1.35 oz coffee, and 3.7 oz Lungo. Additionally, you can find various third party companies offering their own capsule.

Now, let’s go down the rabbit hole…

For everyone who prefers instant coffee over an espresso brewed from, say, a Jura machine, a Nespresso coffee maker is a viable option.

Luckily, we have options like Nespresso on the market and this manufacturer knows good coffee. Namely, two of their best lines are the Original line and the VertouLine Nespresso machines. The general knowledge about the OriginalLine is that they brew espresso tremendously well. On the other hand, the main thing which differentiates OriginalLine from VertuoLine is the fact that the latter can brew both regular coffee and espresso. However, this is not the only difference between these two machines.

This is why we had to write a comparison review of the Nespresso VertuoLine vs Original, to help you find out which one you need. After all, we all have different preferences and it is important for you to get the right cup of coffee to start your day with. So, keep on reading to find out which of these two monster coffee machines is the right choice for you.

Main differences between the Nespresso VertuoLine and OriginalLine

As we said before, besides offering espresso or both coffee and espresso, there are other things you should have in mind before you make the ultimate purchase. You already know that the OriginalLine brews only espresso while the VertuoLine brews both espresso and coffee. Although this is the main difference, there are other things you should consider as well. For example, you should know that both of these machines require different capsules. This would mean that you should get informed about the capsule experience and utilization too. After all, you are buying one so that you can use it for years to come.

In order to be as satisfied as you can, you should also know that the capsules can change the whole game when it comes to these coffee brewers. However, there are other differences too. Although money is probably not the most important subject here, we have to mention that they have different costs and numerous different features. Additionally, they have a different effect on the health of the coffee drinker as well as the environment. So, we feel like we need to have a more in-depth discussion about all of these things. After knowing the most important features of these coffee machines, you will be able to make the best choice. And this choice will be the one you won’t regret.

Differences in features and price

The people who drink nothing but espresso will want to get the best out of their coffee machine. This is where both these machines have a strong side. However, thinking in the long run, the VertuoLine does have a slight disadvantage for espresso on this subject. The truth is, the cup of espresso turns out to be more expensive than the one with the OriginalLine. However, the quality of the espresso is beyond satisfactory in both coffee machines. They both offer a very rich-tasting, authentic Italian coffee. As we said, these coffee machines are both of very high-quality and this makes them durable too.

This also means that you will be able to use these brewers for a very long time. More importantly, even if you do use them for years to come, the quality of the coffee will not decrease.

However, to get back on the subject, we have to talk some more about the capsules. To put it another way, the people in tech will get our point that the VertuoLine is what they would call a closed system. In terms of laypeople, the VertuoLine requires only VertuoLine capsules bought from Nespresso. No alternatives, no nothing. So, if you don’t have where to buy the capsules, we strongly recommend leaning the other way. After all, not having this into consideration can be quite disappointing for you. Imagine buying a coffee machine you can’t get coffee from.

Nespresso Capsules- VertuoLine & OriginalLine

The most important thing you should know about the capsules is that you can only get the VertuoLine capsules from Nespresso and no one else. However, the OriginalLine capsules can be bought from thousands of vendors, including Nespresso, worldwide. So, if you live in a country that hasn’t commercialized Nespresso, Original is the best choice for you.

Performance

When it comes to this subject, there are certain things we must mention. Most importantly, the quality and taste of the coffee are not things you will be disappointed by. We all know that Nespresso is a very valued brand worldwide. The reason for this is, of course, the fact that they offer amazing coffee makers. These coffee makers are convenient, user-friendly and more importantly – very durable.

So, talking about these two specific coffee makers, we can’t say one is inherently better than the other. They are both great and won’t disappoint you. They work fast and still, they manage to bring a rich taste for the pickiest coffee-lovers.

However, we promised we will talk about health and there are things you should know about these coffee makers. Namely, the VertuoLine capsules aren’t organic. Additionally, they aren’t certified for not being GMO either. So, considering that you don’t have an option to choose other capsules to use with the VertuoLine, you should have this in mind too. However, with the OriginalLine you can use a lot of types which are organic and produced specifically for the Nespresso machine.

Conclusion

Both of these coffee-makers are amazing in their own way. However, while the VertuoLine offers excellent performance, consider that the OriginalLine may be more convenient, with a lot more options to choose from. All in all, the final decision is yours, so check out their prices and see which machines suits your needs best.
