In this article, we’re going to be comparing very similar (and equally popular) offerings by Keurig: the K525 and K575. Both coffee makers sport great features such as touchscreens, 80-ounce water reservoirs, and carafe compatibility. They also let you brew a cup of coffee in under a minute!
In addition, both brewers feature the same sleek-looking, contemporary design, which only makes it harder to choose between.
Despite a large number of similarities, the two models have a few key differences as well. These mainly have to do with accessories, filters, brew size compatibilities and price.

The Pros and Cons: Keurig K525 vs K575
In this section, we explore the advantages and disadvantages of buying each coffee maker:
Keurig K525 Review
While the majority of coffee brewers are only compatible with K-cups, the Keurig K525 is also compatible with K-mug pods and K-carafe pods as well. So if you like brewing in batches, then the K525 should serve you fine.
It’s got a large 80-ounce water tank, meaning you can brew ten or more cups of coffee when it’s full. The K525 allows you to control both brewing temperature and strength. So if you dislike making coffee the same way every day, this should make you happy.
But that’s not all! The K525 also comes with a larger colour touchscreen, a ‘Hot Water on Demand’ option, an Auto Off feature and even a nightlight.
The biggest downside of the K525 is that it’s a discontinued model and therefore a bit hard to track down.
The Pros
- Can brew a cup of coffee in under 60 seconds
- Allows you to control both brewing temperature and strength
- Programmable Auto Off
- 80-ounce water reservoir
- Coloured touchscreen allows easier navigation and also displays brewing instructions
- Comes with a water filtration system
- Comes with a re-usable K-cup
- Hot Water on Demand
- Drip tray is removable
The Cons
- Not easily available to purchase
- Is compatible with one less K brewing size than the K575.
Keurig K575 Single Serve Coffee Maker Review
The K575 has a lot of things in common with K525. It too can brew a cup of coffee in less than a minute and hold 80 ounces of water in its reservoir. It also comes with strength control and temperature settings, ‘Hot Water on Demand’, Auto Off and night light as well. Plus the color touch display is identical to the K525’s.
However, it lacks some of the things that the K525 has. Most notably, this includes a removable drip tray and a water filtration system.
The K575 also appears to be discontinued but they are generally easier to find than the K525.
The Pros
- Takes less than 60 seconds to produce a cup of coffee
- Able to brew 11 K sizes while K525 is only capable of 10
- 80-ounce water reservoir
- Programmable Auto Off feature
- 5 temperature control options
- Strength control
- ‘Hot Water on Demand’
The Cons
- Does not come with a removable drip tray, water filtration system or reusable K-cup
- None of the programmable settings can be used with the carafe.
A Closer Look At The Keurig K525 And K575
In this section, we’re going to be taking a more thorough look at the two Keurig models particularly their features, ease of use and design.
Features
Both coffee brewers are pretty much identical in terms of features. The only noteworthy differences are:
- The K575 can brew one additional K-cup size (12 ounces)
- The K575 lacks a removable drip tray which the K525 comes fitted with.
Both the K525 and K575 sport a 2.8-inch color touch display which allows you to easily navigate between temperature controls, strength controls, and brewing sizes. While a lot of Keurig coffee makers are capable of dispensing hot water, the K525 and K575 come with the more advanced ‘Hot Water on Demand’ feature. This pours out hot water faster and in the exact size you prefer.
The Auto Off feature that’s present on both the K525 and K575 cause each machine to switch off automatically after 90 minutes of inactivity. Thanks to that, you’ll never have to worry about using too much electricity.
Last but not least, the nightlight is indispensable when you need to operate your coffee maker in dim light or no light at all.
Design
Both the K525 and K575 have the exact same physical dimensions (10.4 x 13.6 x 13.4 inches) but the latter is almost 3 pounds lighter. Other than that, there seems to be no noticeable difference in their design. They even come in the same colours.
Ease of Use
Both the K525 and K575 are equally easy to use, according to both expert and customer reviews. The touchscreens display instructions for beginners and are large enough so that you can read everything without having to squint. Brewing is simply a matter of inserting a K-pod under the drip and selecting all of your preferences on the touchscreen.
Cleaning and maintenance are quite easy too, especially since each procedure is detailed clearly in the manual. On both machines the water reservoir and pot holder is removable. This allows you to clean both those parts quite thoroughly.
However, only the K575 has a drip tray which is removable. So it’s a bit harder to clean spills on the K525.
How Much Do They Cost?
As we’ve said before, the Keurig K525 and K575 both appear to be discontinued. Therefore your only option would be to buy them used.
The price for a K525 in good condition is around $150.
A good condition K575 should have a slightly more expensive price tag (about $20 or so more).
What Are Some Good Alternatives?
Both of these systems are great offerings from Keurig. They’re no-hassle coffee makers that give you tons of versatility with the brewing process. However, if you want a few alternatives from the Keurig line-up we recommend checking out the following:
- Keurig K-Elite – it’s basically the same as the K525 or the K575 but features a design that resembles the more classic Keurigs (without the touchscreen)
- Keurig K-Select – This is less expensive and lacks a few features like the ability to brew in carafe sizes
- Keurig K-Cafe – can brew both Keurig-style coffees and espresso. They’re not much pricier than the K575.
Our Verdict: Keurig K525 vs K575
The fact that both these single-serve coffee brewers are so similar makes this decision rather difficult. In the end, it all comes down to which one has even the slightest advantage over the other. In our opinion, this would be the K575.
Yes, the K525 does come with additional items like the reusable K-cup and the water filter kit right out of the box. But these can easily be bought for the K575 as well. On the other hand, the K575 is able to brew an addition K-cup size and has a removable drip tray for more effective cleaning. Both these things have the potential to make a coffee brewer’s life just a tiny bit easier.
Which Coffee Machine Should You Buy For Your Home?
You should buy the Keurig K525 if:
- You don’t want to shell out the extra cash for a K575
- You like having all the extras (like the water filter kit) out of the box.
On the other hand, you should buy the Keurig K575 if:
- You like having the extra K-cup size option
- You don’t mind spending the extra amount of cash
- You can’t be bothered to spend a lot of time and effort tracking down a K525
- You like being able to remove the drip tray for easier cleaning.
