Getting specialty coffee to match with interesting flavors – some of which are quite incredulous – is the USP of Bones Coffee.

I never knew I wanted Strawberry Cheesecake or Bourbon flavored coffee! Getting started with this Bones Coffee review, we see some of the most popular flavors on offer.

Let’s find out if it’s a gimmick or good coffee! Here are the top 7 Bones Coffee flavors that hit our radar. There are several more on offer, so feel free to try some out.

7 Most Interesting Bones Coffee Flavors

1. High Voltage Coffee

Bones Coffee High Voltage Coffee

Getting a jolt of caffeine is just how I like to start my day! High Voltage is the strongest coffee amongst Bones Coffee offerings. Grind one up fresh for your espresso, and your eyes will stay wide open throughout the day. Don’t forget to blink!

The claim is that the beans have twice the caffeine of regular coffee beans. While there is no way to verify that, it certainly is (impressively) strong. It’s an interesting blend that has quite a bit to offer.

You could get it to work with a drip machine, but I’m so much more in favor of using a good espresso machine. Strong coffee for a good espresso, now that’s the life.

See High Voltage Coffee on the official website.

2. Maple Bacon Coffee

Bones Coffee Maple Bacon Coffee

Maple Bacon sounds like an enticing flavor for coffee, so it is no surprise that this is one of the most popular ones Bones Coffee has to offer. This bold flavor comes with medium-roast coffee and is a delight.

The leading flavor is maple and the subtle hints of bacon add gloriously to the mix. Obviously, this isn’t going to be strong coffee, but its flavor combination is excellent. The flavor and aroma are well-balanced and well worth a taste.

3. Strawberry Cheesecake Gourmet Coffee

Bones Coffee Strawberry Cheesecake Gourmet Coffee

Strawberry Cheesecake as a coffee flavor is pretty much out there. The coffee beans are a medium-roast Arabica blend. You can expect a nice aroma to your coffee. Getting to the flavor is a bit more complex.

I was a bit skeptical about this flavor. Strawberry Cheesecake is awesome. Coffee is awesome. Putting them together is a bit of a risk; like putting George Clooney in a nippled batsuit.

Thankfully, Bones Coffee managed to pull the combination off. Along with Maple Bacon, the Strawberry Cheesecake is one of the more popular flavors they have in their inventory. I think the strawberry overpowers the cheesecake, but it isn’t a dealbreaker.

4. Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee

Bones Coffee Barrel Aged Coffee

For a fan of Irish coffee, the Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee seems just the thing to like. One can’t have an Irish coffee at any time, but the Bourbon Barrel comes a close second. It’s not a second choice, it stands pretty well all on its own merits.

For this flavor, the raw coffee beans are “aged” in charred oak barrels used for highest quality bourbon. The process goes on until the beans have aged, and acquired the delicious flavor many have come to love. Beans used are medium-roasted. To keep the flavor intact, Bones Coffee sells this flavor only as whole beans.

5. Dark Roast Coffee

Dark Roast Coffee? Hell yeah! This is a full-bodied dark roast with excellent flavor and aroma. Treat it like a king, folks.

Get it as whole beans coffee, and use the best burr grinder you can find. Just to be clear, this is a regular dark roast specialty coffee. Don’t expect it to have one of those unique and lovely flavors.

6. Guatemala Single-Origin Craft Coffee

Bones Coffee Guatemala Single Origin Coffee

There it is, something for lovers of single origin coffee. The Guatemala single-origin comes from highlands of Antigua. There are some other popular single origin destinations available as well, so you get to have your pick.

It’s smooth with nutty undertones. Great taste, but made me wonder if I should have stayed with those awesome bold flavors.

7. Peanut Butter & Jelly – PB&J Coffee

Bones Coffee Peanut Butter And Jelly Coffee

Peanut Butter & Jelly? Sign me up! This medium roast Arabica is a blend of grape jelly and peanut butter. Now that sounds promising, as is every deliciousness of PB&J.

Maybe it’s being too enthusiastic that brings clouds of doubt. The Jelly has often been deemed to be too overpowering, and that’s where the trouble is. It swallows up the flavor of peanut butter, and often, even the coffee. PB&J flavor from Bones Coffee still has plenty of admirers, but I’d suggest looking at other flavors first.

Is Bones Coffee The Right Fit?

Can I Get Bones Coffee In Smaller Packaging?

Bones Coffee packs are available as beans or ground coffee. They make it easy to test the flavors before you commit to a purchase. The company offers a user-customizable 5-bag sample with 4oz coffee in each bag. They roast coffee in small batches to ensure you get freshly-roasted coffee, not one that has been sitting in the warehouse for months.

Fans of single-serve coffee can get several bones coffee flavors with pods, which are compatible with Keurig 1.0 and 2.0.

Does Bones Coffee Fit My Diet Preferences?

Coffee used is vegan friendly, and contain no milk, eggs, meat, or dairy products. Given the variety of flavors, one could wonder if Bones Coffee flavors have sugar or artificial sweeteners. The company says there are no added sweeteners or sugar. And if you’ve got an eye on healthy eating, Bones Coffee is gluten free.

Bones Coffee Packaging And Accessories

Packaging-design seems to be an especially strong suit of Bones Coffee. Illustrations on the packages look great and help make the coffee look better. Oh, and if you enjoy the illustrations, the company has coffee mugs on offer with some of those lovely printed designs.

Sometimes, they also have unique flavors available for special occasions. The gingerbread man was quite a treat for last Christmas.

Bones Coffee Review — The Bottom Line

For ardent coffee lovers, flavored coffee can take some time getting used to. Expect strong aromas, and flavors contending with the taste of coffee. The aroma of added flavors can be overpowering if you’re not ready for it. Although if you are used to flavored coffee, Bones Coffee and its bold flavors are delicious must-haves. In case you buy full beans for flavored coffee, remember to clean the grinder thoroughly after, so you can get rid of any lingering flavor before your next batch.
