Coffee Maker With Grinder Quick Facts

We are talking about coffee makers with grinders that have integrated grinders for 2022.

Recently there’s been quite a few releases on the market and we wanted to see which ones made the cut.

Granted, these don’t come cheap (compared to regular drip coffee makers)  but they do have their advantages.

You don’t have to get your hands dirty with manual coffee grinders and what’s more, you can simply set the coffee coarse grind size to your liking with the push of a button.

On top of that, you can set and forget them with their fully automated mode.

There are models from 79$ all the way up to 300+$ and you may ask yourself why is there such a big difference?

Quite simple, most lower end price models use a blade grinder while high end models have a burr grinder.

What’s that?

Burr vs. Blade Grinders

When you make coffee you need grounded beans and the size of the bean grind determines the taste of your coffee.

Different types of coffee (explained here in our guide) also need different sizes of grind.

We’ve also created a detailed guide on how to grind coffee beans here:

From extra coarse to extra fine you may want to make a decision based on how you like your coffee or what type of coffee you usually drink.

However, most combined coffee makers with grinders are drip coffee style machines.

So you may want to have a grinder that can grind in medium size.

You’ll also want a machine with a burr grinder if your budget allows it.

Why? Because blade grinders tend to grind more unevenly which affects the quality of coffee.

But don’t worry, we’ll explain in detail what that means below.

There are a good 200 models on the market and you may ask yourself why we picked only 4 to review.

Well, they are all pretty much the same and we’ve already picked the best out of each price level.

We’ve picked the most affordable burr grinder model, the top of the line blade grinder model as well as the best 2 with automatic and digital settings & thermal carafes.

So we didn’t feel the need to review 10 different models because it might just confuse you.

There are of course higher end models that make espresso style coffee (the following are all drop coffee makers) but you’ll find these in our “Automatic Espresso Maker” section.

We’ve looked at the 4 available coffee makers with grinder & summed it up for you below.

Please note these are all drip-coffee makers, for fully automatic Nespresso makers with grinder have a look HERE.

Our personal winner and favourite, the Cusinart DGB-900 coffee maker with grinder and thermal carafe have it all.

Fully programmable (24 hours), the Burr Grind & Brew Thermal 12 Cup Automatic Coffeemaker maintains true flavour while grinding your coffee beans to deliver bright and bold taste in each cup.

The 12 cup thermal carafe is double walled to seal in the heat and freshness so the last cup is as good as the first.

It is energy-saving and shuts off automatically after brewing.

So even if it is shut off, coffee will stay hot for hours due to the thermal carafe.

It comes with an integrated charcoal filter to filter possible impurities and a permanent gold tone filter that ensures only the freshest coffee flavor flows through.

If you can’t wait for its brewing process to finish you may pause the brewing process and snag a cup already due to its brew-pause feature.

Like we said it is fully programable so you can set it and forget it.

The company also provides an excellent guide and instruction manual for the perfect cup of Joe.

With a 3 year limited warranty and money-back guarantee from Amazon there’s really nothing to worry about.

Given that is only slightly higher priced than our #2 selection this would make a great gift or purchase for your home.

Pros

  • Fully programable

Next up is the Cusinart DGB-800 full coffee maker with grinder and thermal carafe.

You might be wondering what the main differences are between its higher priced brother (DGB900BC)? So let’s dive into them.

Obviously, the DGB800 is cheaper.

But why?

While the main functions are nearly the same as the DGB900BC there are slight differences.

Both models have a 10 or 12 cups feature.

The carafe is thermal as well, so nothing to compare here.

The LCD screen is smaller and the functions aren’t as easily accessible as with the bigger brother.

I personally would prefer the larger LCD screen as it is just more convenient.

Plus as I said the functions are more convenient to access in the bigger brother.

This model does not have a “brew pause” function.

Meaning you’ll have to wait until the coffee is fully brewed before you can enjoy a cup of coffee.

This is usually a big deal for me as I like to grab a cup as soon as I can and not wait for the whole machine to finish the brew.

This model also comes with charcoal and a permanent gold-tone filter that ensures only the freshest coffee flavor flows through.

For some reason, this model isn’t as popular among users as the bigger brother.

Also, the reviews and customer feedback on Amazon confirm these findings.

Having said that, this model is a great option for people with less budget as it is considerably cheaper.

Pros

  • Fully programable
  • Integrated charcoal filter
  • Affordable
  • Double wall thermal carafe
  • Burr grinder for even coffee grind and maximum taste

Cons

  • Big in size
  • Simple plastic materials

  • Coffee automatic start function: entering the timer mode and setting the time you wanted to automati
  • Promise& service: consumers will get 1-year promise of this machine. if you have any problem of this

This relatively new model on the market is the most affordable model with burr grinder (which we prefer over a blade grinder).

What strikes us about this model is its design and powerful grinder, despite the price level.

It comes with a 6 cup capacity and brews coffee within 3 minutes.

The removable water tank which is one of the key features compared to the other models.

We’ve all been there – sometimes its annoying to pour in water when the machine sits at your kitchen counter close to the wall with limited space to manoeuvre.

The sleek touch display screen lets you select the quantity of cups (from 2-10) as well as the coffee grind size.

The burr grinder has an additional 8 grind settings that get you from very coarse (for classical drip coffee) to fine (espresso style) coffee.

The integrated 35min keep-warm function helps to keep your coffee hot.

The entire unit is easy to clean.

We’d recommend this unit if you can’t exist without burr grind style coffee and on a budget.

Pros

  • Burr grinder
  • Affordable
  • 8 grind settings
  • Ideal for a single household

Cons

  • Materials look fragile
  • Glass not thermal carafe

4. Capresso 487.05 Digital Coffeemaker With Conical Burr Grinder And Thermal Carafe

Jura Capresso Coffee TEAM PRO Plus 487.05 12-Cup Coffee Maker in Stainless Steel
  • Having a jura capresso coffee team pro plus 12-cup coffee maker lets you and your family enjoy fresh
  • Concealed cord storage | includes a glass carafe | removable water tank for convenient filling | rem
  • Conical steel burrs enable high gear reduction to bring down the grinding speed to less than 500 rpm
  • Preset function to keep coffee ready whenever required | brew and pause function | includes a charco
  • Stainless steel and plastic | dishwasher safe (pitcher/carafe) | hand wash other parts | measures 12

Number 2 on our list is the Capresso 487.05.

It’s one of the most expensive models on our list mainly due to its conical burr grinder (vs a flat burr grinder at our #1 spot).

A conical burr grinder does deliver the best ground coffee but it comes at a prize.

Nonetheless, we felt this model belongs in our review.

Not only due to its consistent good customer reviews but also due to its fully automatic program as well as its design.

It produces up to 10 cups that can be kept hot in the complimentary thermal carafe for hours.

Grind settings can easily be adjusted via the digital display and its many grind and strength settings.

The coffee beans container holds enough coffee beans for up to 20 cups, so you don’t need to refill very often.

It didn’t make the #1 spot due to its price level but we still like it because of its high quality coffee produce.

Pros

  • Conical burr grinder
  • Consistent good reviews
  • Excellent coffee taste

Cons

  • Expensive

5. Chefman Grind And Brew 4 Cup Grind And Brew Coffee Maker With Built In Coffee Grinder

We really love the compact design of this coffee maker with a grinder.

While it only serves 4 cups it does make it an ideal companion for a single household.

This model is our only model with a blade grinder but these do come powerful.

What we also really like about this model is that you can use ground beans or let the machine grind fresh beans for you.

So whether you couldn’t get a hold of your favourite un-grounded beans or just want to brew coffee quickly in about 2 minutes this coffee maker is for you.

It also comes with a washable coffee filter so you don’t need to worry about the environment and buy coffee filters all the time.

You can even set the coffee intensity in 3 steps from ready ground coffee to medium (fresh ground) or strong (fresh ground).

As we said the design is modern and compact and fits into a small kitchen with limited space.

Unlike the higher priced models that have a thermal carafe, this item comes with a glass carafe and a keep warm plate function.

So if you only drink 3-4 cups (2 US mug sizes) per day or in the morning this model is the ideal candidate.

Combine this with the price level and you have one of the most affordable but high quality coffee makers with grinders in your household.

Pros

  • Fast – within 2 minutes
  • Both grounded or fresh beans
  • Compact and affordable

Cons

  • Produces only a small quantity (1-2 mugs)
  • Blade grinder

Wrapping Up

Coffee makers with grinders are ideal if you have a hectic schedule in the morning and want to set and forget your coffee machine.

They are priced below fully automatic espresso makers and make them an ideal companion for a family of coffee drinkers.

Thanks to their integrated grinders they make great and fresh tasting coffee.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more on a coffee maker then go for these combination machines to truly taste fresh coffee in the morning.

Cheers!
